you can take a look at the history of the Acoustic Stage from the beginning
with a small PA in the corner of the car park and a ragbag of musicians to
today's much more elaborate set-up. Or you can click on one of the links at the

BIG WHEEL BLUES FESTIVAL 2006
|
Festival downsizes for 2006
Sadly, there will not be an Acoustic Stage in 2006. But the Festival continues,
albeit downsized and will now return to it's Blues Roots in a single venue at
the Pavilion Ballroom in Laxey Glen Gardens. You can check the Official website
by clicking
here.
This decision will clearly disappoint the many people who have flocked to the
Shore Hotel every May for the last seven years but, hey, no gloomy faces, life
goes on...
Just one more very important thing; thanks to the many people who have been
involved in the organisation at the Shore (more than you might think) and
especially all those marvellous musicians who have appeared over the years for free.
Cheers everyone.

2005 Festival Acclaimed A Success
Malcolm Yates the Landlord down at The Shore said that he was absolutely
delighted with this year's Festival - his first - and definitely wanted to be
involved again in 2006. The weather was once again very kind to us and although
Sunday was a little overcast the new Survivors Session went well and all in all
it was a marvellous weekend.

WHERE IS THE BIG WHEEL BLUES FESTIVAL?
|
How to find the Big Wheel Blues Festival
The annual Big Wheel Blues Festival is now in it's sixth successful year. Based
in the village of Laxey on the Isle of Man in the middle of the Irish sea
between Liverpool, England and Belfast Northern Ireland (click
here
to see a map and travel info) this weekend-long event has developed with each
year and if we've got anything to say about it, it will continue to do so.

WHAT IS THE BIG WHEEL BLUES FESTIVAL?
|
Is this an acoustic festival only?
Absolutely not.
The Acoustic Stage at the Shore Hotel is just one of the venues and we don't
limit ourselves either to exclusively acoustic music or even just The Blues -
its an eclectic mix. The other stages are located throughout Laxey village.
There are Electric Stages, at Laxey
Station and The Queens Hotel (acoustic too), the Main Stage is in the Blues
Marquee in Laxey Station
and there are stages at
the Bridge Inn, the Laxey FC and the Mines Tavern, again a mix of electric,
indie and "unplugged".
Check the main
Festival website
(this one is chiefly concerned with the Acoustic
Stage at The Shore Hotel) at
www.bigwheelblues.com
for more details of the Festival.
